Police say they are treating the death of a Neath man as unexplained, after he was discovered on a street in the town.

Stephen Arthur Jenkins, 40, was found collapsed in the early evening of Tuesday.

He was taken to Morriston Hospital in Swansea, but has now died.

South Wales Police said there is nothing to indicate why Mr Jenkins collapsed, and are appealing for anyone who may have seen him on Tuesday to contact them.

"The man was found collapsed by a resident of New Henry Street at around 6.05pm on Tuesday evening," said Det Insp David Hough of Neath Port Talbot CID.

"He was taken to hospital but has since died. There is nothing to indicate how or why the man has collapsed.

"An investigation is now underway and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen Mr Jenkins on Tuesday particularly prior to him being found collapsed."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Neath CID via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
