Traquair House antique clock theft investigated
Published: 5th Oct 2010 14:03:50
An investigation is under way after an expensive antique clock was stolen from a historic home in the Borders.
The 17th Century ebony and gilt mounted striking bracket clock was taken from a secure dining room at Traquair House in Innerleithen.
The incident happened some time between 1600 BST on Sunday and 0830 BST on Monday.
Lothian and Borders Police said the clock had a value "in excess of several thousand pounds".
Traquair House claims to be the oldest inhabited house in Scotland.
It has stood since at least 1107, when King Alexander I of Scotland signed a royal charter there.
