Five men bailed over hit-and-run crash in Palmers Green
Published: 2nd Jan 2010 15:28:13
Five men arrested over a hit-and-run crash in north London on New Year's Day, in which a woman was killed, have been bailed by police.
The 20-year-old victim was walking with four others when a Honda car mounted the pavement on the North Circular Road in Palmers Green and hit them.
Two other pedestrians who were seriously injured remain in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
The five men in their 30s were arrested at an address in Ilford on Friday.
The accident happened close to the junction with Green Lanes, at about 0425 GMT on Friday.
The police believe the white Honda was travelling eastbound with a red vehicle at the time of the crash.
After the crash, the occupants of the Honda ran off on foot while the red car did not stop at the scene.
The woman, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination will be carried out on Sunday.
Another pedestrian in the group suffered a broken leg in the crash while the fourth person was unhurt.
