Woman dies as lorry and car crash in East Yorkshire
Published: 10th Feb 2010 12:21:55
A woman has been killed after the car she was travelling was in collision with a lorry in East Yorkshire.
The 62-year-old, from Driffield, was a passenger in VW Bora that was carrying six people, including two children.
The crash happened on the B1248 near the Towthorpe crossroads, near Driffield, at 2340 BST on Tuesday.
Elsewhere in the region, police said a man in his 40s had died in a crash earlier, on the eastbound carriageway of the M62 near North Cave.
Driver arrested
Humberside Police said two vehicles had been involved in the collision, which happened at 0600 BST between junctions 37 and 38. The road has been closed following the incident.
The lorry driver involved in Tuesday night's crash, a 40-year-old man from North Yorkshire, was arrested before being released on bail. He was not injured.
Police said the Bora was being driven by a 27-year-old man, who received cuts to his forehead. Also travelling in the car were two other women, 25 and 40, and two boys aged six and four, who are all from Driffield.
The six-year-old received serious leg injuries and the 40-year-old woman had suspected cracked ribs, police said.
The other woman and younger boy suffered cuts and bruises.
