Thomas Devlin accused told police they had 'wrong man'
Published: 9th Feb 2010 15:50:31
The man accused of stabbing a schoolboy to death told police he knew "100% it's not going to court because I didn't do it," Belfast Crown Court has heard.
Belfast men Nigel Brown, 26, from Whitewell Road and Gary Taylor, 23, from Mountcollyer Avenue, deny murdering 15-year-old Thomas Devlin.
The teenager was stabbed in north Belfast in August 2005.
The trial was told that, during police interviews, Mr Taylor told detectives they "were barking up the wrong tree".
Asked directly if he knew anything about the murder, he replied "no comment" and when further asked if he was sure, he told police he knew "nothing".
Thomas died as a result of the stab wounds, while his friend Jonathan Mr McKee was stabbed in the abdomen and hit on the head with a wooden baton.
The prosecution alleges Mr Taylor had the knife and Mr Brown the bat.
The case continues.
