Absconded killer back in custody

A convicted killer who absconded from an open prison in Derbyshire is back in custody, police have said.
Gary Robert Gibbon, 43 and from the Peterlee area in County Durham, failed to return to HMP Sudbury on Friday.
Gibbon was sentenced to life imprisonment at Teesside Crown Court in 1985 for a murder he committed in Durham.
He handed himself in at a police station in Durham on Tuesday morning, a spokesman confirmed.
