Grampian Police chief constable 'could extend contract'

Moves to begin the process of trying to extend the contract of the Grampian Police chief constable are expected to be made.
The police board is to discuss asking Colin McKerracher to stay on beyond his retirement date, so he can oversee the transition to a single Scottish force.
The board's convener, Martin Greig, said Grampian needed stability.
If the board and Mr McKerracher agree, a request will be made to the justice secretary.
