Kingsbury police stabbing: Suspect appears in court

A man has appeared in court charged with stabbing four police officers in north-west London on Saturday.

Christopher Houghton, 32, is charged with three counts of attempted murder, two of attempted grievous bodily harm and one of assault causing actual bodily harm.

Mr Houghton, of Milford Gardens, Wembley, north-west London, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court.

He was remanded into custody to appear at the Old Bailey at a later date.

Three Metropolitan Police officers needed surgery after being injured outside Kingsbury Halal Butchers, in Kingsbury Road.

The fourth officer, who was slashed and suffered a broken hand, was discharged from hospital on Saturday afternoon.
