Cader Idris death: Walker named as Christopher Currie
Published: 14th Nov 2011 15:22:37
A 47-year-old man thought to have fallen about 400ft (122m) while walking on Cader Idris in Gwynedd at the weekend has been named.
Christopher Currie, of Southampton, had been reported missing on Saturday.
His body was found on Sunday morning on a cliff face following an all-night search by three mountain rescue teams.
He was pronounced dead after being airlifted to hospital in Bangor. Coroner Dewi Pritchard-Jones has opened and adjourned an inquest at Caernarfon.
Dave Williams, leader of Aberdyfi search and rescue team, said conditions had been treacherous on the 3,000ft (914m) mountain due to wind and fog.
