Tribute to woman killed in A666 crash

A woman killed in a car crash in Lancashire along with two friends was a mother of three, police said.

Helen Openshaw, 38, of Farnworth in Bolton, died at the scene of the crash on the A666 Bolton Road in Darwen at about 15:30 BST on Saturday.

Roy O'Brien, 33, and Lee Amos, 39, were also killed as they travelled in a Peugeout which hit a lamp post.

Ms Openshaw's daughters, aged five, eight and 12, "were her world", her family said.

In a statement, they said: "Our Helen was a beautiful mother, sister, daughter and auntie.

"She was a bubbly character, known by so many people in the area as she grew up and lived most of her life in Kearsley and Farnworth.

"Tragically she leaves behind three beautiful daughters who were her world and her little niece to whom she was devoted. The girls love and miss their Mummy very much.

"The family are devastated by what has happened and are trying to support Helen's girls as best we can at this terrible time."

Another woman, 25, remains in a critical condition after the crash.

Lancashire Police has appealed to anyone with any information to contact the force.
