Nine people rescued from blaze in block of flats

Nine people have been rescued from a fire which tore through the top floor of a block of flats in Erith, south-east London.
Forty firefighters in eight fire engines fought the blaze in the 14-storey building on Larner Road, after being called to the scene shortly before 0800 GMT.
Half of the 14th floor was destroyed by the fire.
Some of those rescued were suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.
No serious injuries have been reported, but fire crews remain at the scene.
