A 71-year-old man from East Lothian, Scotland, has been killed during Wednesday's Manx Grand Prix racing.

Adam Easton died after an incident at Lambfell, on the approach to Cronk-Y-Voddy, while racing a Norton in the Classic Grand Prix.

Race organisers said Mr Easton was an experienced competitor who had been racing in the event since 1983.

Bill Bennett, chairman of the Manx Motorcycle Club, said: "He was very much part of the MGP family."

He added: "Adam was well liked by everyone in the paddock and one of the real characters involved with the event. He will be greatly missed."

Mr Easton is the third rider to die at this year's event, following the deaths of Portadown's Wayne Hamilton, 20, and 48-year-old Neil Kent from Lincolnshire.

The coroner and Mr Easton's next of kin have been informed.
