Press Release: Aladdin flies into St Helens this Christmas

Get your 3 wishes ready, dig out your magic carpet and prepare for some fabulous festive fun at St Helens Theatre Royal this Christmas, as Regal Entertainments present ALADDIN, which will run at the Theatre Royal from Fri 2 December – Sunday 8 January 2012.

Come away with us to the mystical East ... of St Helens town centre for this glittering family pantomime, which stars Master of Illusions Richard De Vere as the evil Abanazer, with Coronation Street’s very own Andy McDonald, Nick Cochrane, as Aladdin. Kev Seed from 102.4 Wish FM has grabbed his truncheon and will play PC Noodle, whilst Radio City 96.7’s Claire Simonson flies in as Slave of the Ring.

They’re joined by an extremely talented cast of local actors including Charlie Griffiths (Peter Pan, The Ciggie Run) as Empress of China, singer and choreographer Marc Lawlor as Genie of the Lamp, Si Foster as Widow Twankey, Leah Murphy (The Salon, Peter Pan) as Princess Jasmine, Eloise Tasker (Peter Pan) as So Shi and last but not least, there will also be an appearance from Schnorbitz the dog and his little friend Schnookie.

The production is directed by Chantelle Nolan with Musical Direction from Ian Rowlands.

One of the most treasured family pantomimes of all time, Aladdin is the story with more than enough magic, sparkle and festive fun to keep all the family happy! Will Aladdin spoil the evil Abanazer’s plan to rule the world? Will he get the girl? Will Widow Twankey find a pair of knickers that fit? There is only one way to find out this Christmas.

As in past productions this cast will bring hilarious comedy that will make the whole families wishes come true this Christmas. Aladdin is one of my favourite stories, it’s a joy to see it back at the Theatre Royal.’

With genie-us casting, striking sets, sparkling costumes and a laugh a minute script that will have you rolling in the aisles, Aladdin is a pantomime guaranteed to rub you up the right way.
