Houses evacuated in Downpatrick after bomb alert

A number of homes have been evacuated in Downpatrick after a suspicious object was discovered on Saturday.
Army bomb experts are on their way to the scene of the alert on the Drumnaconagher Road. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
Meanwhile, the Army has removed a suspected firearm discovered near a house on Blackstown Road in Crumlin on Friday evening.
A police spokesperson said the item was found wrapped in bed linen.
