Christopher Nolan begins shooting The Dark Knight Rises
Published: 20th May 2011 12:38:40

The Dark Knight Rises, the final instalment of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, has started shooting this week.
Christian Bale is once again in the title role in a cast that includes franchise newcomers Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Tom Hardy as Bane, Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake.
Michael Caine returns as Bruce Wayne's faithful butler Alfred, as do Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman in the roles of Commissioner Gordon and Lucius Fox respectively.
Warner Bros confirmed that principal photography started earlier this week and that locations for the film will include Pittsburgh, New York and Los Angeles plus sites in India, England and Scotland.
After the record-breaking box office success of shooting previous instalment The Dark Knight with IMAX cameras, director Nolan is planning to use this technique even more extensively in the finale, the studio revealed.
The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for release in July 2011.
