The rocky road of Britain: UK drivers are officially a bunch of headbangers

Despite the nation’s reputation for stiff upper lips and great reserve, it turns out Brits are actually a bunch of headbangers, when it comes to driving their cars that is.

Whilst many would assume middle England is most at home with middle of the road easy listening, research shows that we’re actually a bunch of headbanging rock addicts when in our cars.

A new survey of 1000 car owners by used car supermarket Carcraft revealed our top five bands to listen to whilst driving are rock bands such as Pink Floyd and Queen with Meatloaf’s Bat out of Hell as the favourite song to sing along to. UK top bands to listen to whilst driving:

1. Pink Floyd 2. Queen 3. Oasis 4. AC/DC 5. Kings of Leon

The survey also revealed that thirty two percent of us like to sing along to our favourite artists in the car and although Take That and Katy Perry get a look in, once again, rock comes up top!

UK top songs to sing to whilst driving:

1. Bat out of Hell - Meat Loaf 2. The Flood - Take That 3. We Will Rock You - Queen 4. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen 5. Firework - Katy Perry

Julia Dallimore, Head of marketing at Carcraft, said “Who’d have thought that Brits are a bunch of rockers, perhaps we can dispel the myth of middle England being the comfy slippers brigade.

“Many people enjoy listening to music whilst driving as it helps them relax and feel more comfortable when concentrating on their journey. Choosing to listen to some of the rock classics could be a sign that people find familiar music and sounds help them feel happy and at ease whilst driving.”

Carcraft is the UK’s leading used car supermarket, with showrooms located around the UK and cars available online at www.carcraft.co.uk.
