Warrington's Lee Briers wants third Challenge Cup
Published: 4th May 2011 13:38:49
Warrington stand-off Lee Briers says his team are desperate to maintain their grip on the Challenge Cup and win it for the third time in a row.
The Wolves host Keighley on Sunday in the fourth round.
"It's going to take some doing," Briers told BBC Radio Merseyside. "We're the champions and people are going to try and knock us off.
"We're fully focused on retaining this cup and we want a good run in it and hopefully we'll get back to Wembley."
Six-times Challenge Cup winners Warrington would be only the third club in the competition's history to claim the trophy three years in a row.
St Helens were victorious from 2006-8 and Wigan put together an astonishing run of eight consecutive wins in from the late 1980s to mid-1990s.
Briers added: "We know how special it is and that's an added spur for us.
"It means everything and I love the Challenge Cup and to play in front of 90,000 people is pretty special.
"We've been quite lucky that we've won two of them. It would be nice to win a Super League title, but the Challenge Cup is massive.
"It's got a special place in everybody's hearts at this club."
Warrington are favourites going into this match against the Championship side, although Briers insists the Wolves cannot afford to believe they will have an easy ride.
"We can't take them lightly because we know too well that teams can turn us over," continued the Wales international.
"It should be a win for us but we're treating this like any other game. We've got a full side to pick from, so people will be playing for their places.
"I'm sure as professionals we won't take them lightly."
