Fire crews tackle plastics factory blaze in Rochdale
Published: 28th Apr 2011 10:01:33
Forty firefighters have been tackling a severe fire at a plastics factory in Greater Manchester.
The fire broke out at Taylor Engineering and Plastics, in Moss Bridge Road, Rochdale at about 0600 BST on Thursday.
The fire service said the flames had produced a huge plume of smoke but they had contained the fire to one property.
Nearby businesses had to been evacuated. Access to roads off Moss Bridge Road has been restricted.
The fire service said crews would remain at the factory on Friday, damping down the fire and starting an investigation into the cause of the blaze.
