Music stars nominated for Ivor Novello gongs

Plan B, Bombay Motorcycle Club and Everything Everything have been named as the nominees for best album at this year's Ivor Novello awards.

Votes will be cast for the three acts by the UK's songwriting and composing community before the winner is announced at London's Grosvenor House on May 19th.

In the best song musically and lyrically category, meanwhile, Manchester-based Everything Everything are there again, up against Villagers and Foals for Becoming a Jackal and Spanish Sahara respectively.

Kylie Minogue has been nominated for most performed song with All the Lovers, while Tinie Tempah, Katy B and The XX will battle it out for best contemporary song.

The best TV soundtrack gong will go to the composer of the music for Agatha Christie's Marple, Any Human Heart or Going Postal, while the soundtracks of How To Train Your Dragon, Monsters and Unstoppable will go head-to-head for the movie equivalent.

The Ivors, set up to celebrate the best in song-writing talent in the country, are in their 56th year.
