Fire at house in Oldham kills elderly man

An elderly man has died in a fire at a house in Greater Manchester.
Fire crews were called to the mid-terraced house in Herbert Street, Oldham, at 09:36 BST, following reports that a man was trapped inside.
Firefighters said they were confronted by a fire in the upstairs front bedroom, where they discovered the body of the 83-year-old man.
Police and fire officials are investigating how the blaze started, but it is not thought to be suspicious.
Greater Manchester fire service said there were no working smoke alarms in the house.
