Man dies after truck rolls in Carnforth M6 collision
Published: 15th Sep 2012 13:19:07
A man has died after a crash between a van and a pick-up truck on the M6 motorway in Lancashire.
The van failed to stop after the collision close to junction 35 near Carnforth.
The dead man, thought to be 53 and from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, was travelling north in the truck at about 06:00 BST when the crash took place.
Police said it is believed the white Transit van struck the back of the truck, causing it to roll.
A woman, who was also travelling in the pick-up, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The motorway was closed between junction 34 and 36 northbound due to the collision, with diversions in place.
Lancashire Police have appealed for drivers to avoid the heavily congested area.
A police spokesman said the carriageway is expected to remain closed for a number of hours as the crash is investigated.
