Inquiry after teenager shot dead in Huyton

An investigation is under way after a 17-year-old boy was shot dead on Merseyside.
Detectives were called to reports of the teenager being shot on Hathersage Road, in Huyton, just before 1600 GMT.
"The boy died shortly afterwards," said a spokeswoman for Merseyside Police, who added that more details would be released later.
Huyton is in the Merseyside borough of Knowsley and is located a few miles east of Liverpool city centre.
