The jury in the trial of a man accused of murdering a Perthshire pensioner has retired to consider its verdict.

Jenny Methven died after being beaten with a "blunt object" on her head and body at her Forteviot cottage on 20 February this year.

William Kean, 46, denies murdering the eighty-year-old and has instead lodged a special defence of incrimination.

At the High Court in Glasgow, judge Lord Glennie, told the jury they were not deciding a "whodunnit".

He also told the jury of nine women and six men to take as much time as they needed to reach their verdict.
