Plymouth car theft hit-and-run: Man charged

A man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after a hit-and-run in Plymouth.

Geoffrey Hazeldene, 59, was thrown from the bonnet of his car as he tried to stop it being stolen on Thursday.

He was seriously injured and is being treated at the city's Derriford Hospital.

Nicholas Cork, 32, from the Pennycross area of the city has been charged with GBH with intent, aggravated vehicle taking and driving whilst disqualified.

Mr Hazeldene is being treated for a fractured skull, a punctured lung and fractured ribs.

The hit-and-run happened at about 07:00 BST on Melrose Avenue.
