Man dies after being hit by bin lorry in Glasgow

A man has died after being hit by a bin lorry in Glasgow City Centre.
The 71-year-old was struck at about 11:15 in Holm Street near to Wellington Street.
He was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he died a short time later.
Police said the area would have been busy at the time and appealed for witnesses to come forward. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
Pc Elaine Hamilton from Strathclyde Police said: "The area is overlooked by both residential and commercial properties and it is possible that someone may have seen or heard something that will assist us with our enquiries."
