Man found dead after shots fired in Clayton
Published: 10th Aug 2012 12:21:22
A man has been found dead after police were called to reports of gunshots at a house in Manchester.
Greater Manchester Police were called to the address in Folkeston Road, Clayton, at 10.30 BST.
Ten minutes later police also received reports of shots being fired at an address in Luke Road, Droylsden.
A force spokesman said it was investigating possible links to the fatal shooting of Mark Short, 23, in Droylsden on 25 May.
Mr Short died after being shot at the Cotton Tree Inn.
Extra officers, including armed response teams are in both areas.
Assistant Chief Constable Garry Shewan said: "These incidents will understandably cause a lot of anxiety and upset and our primary focus is to ensure the safety of those in the local communities and the wider public of Greater Manchester.
"I want to reassure everyone that extra officers are being deployed in the area, including specialist firearms officers and at this time we do not believe there to be a threat to the wider public.
"We will be doing everything we can to get to the bottom of what happened and why."
