Man charged over Ardoyne, Belfast, police shooting

Detectives investigating a gun attack in which a number of shots were fired towards police in north Belfast have charged a man.

The 57-year-old has been charged with aiding and abetting possession of a firearm.

The man, who was arrested in north Belfast on Monday, is to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The attack took place at Brompton Park in Ardoyne on the night of 12-13 July. No-one was injured.

Immediately after the shooting, police said at least 10 shots had been fired from an automatic weapon.
