Two men caught with more than £34m worth of cocaine hidden in boxes of imported pineapples have been jailed.

Frederick Colverson, 56, of Galsworthy Avenue, London, was jailed for 25 years after being found guilty of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Terrance Smith, 57, of Ethelreda Drive, Thetford, who admitted the same charge earlier was sentenced to 20 years at Ipswich Crown Court.

The 174kg of drugs was the biggest haul ever in Suffolk.

Officers had been gathering information for several months relating to the importation of cocaine through Felixstowe Docks.

The operation culminated on 31 October 2011 when officers raided premises in Highbury Road, Brandon, where a container had been taken to an industrial unit.
