Gunman threatens police at Runcorn house

A man threatened police with a gun and was found minutes later with a gunshot wound to the head, officers said.
Cheshire Police were called to a house in Heath Road, Runcorn, at 09:15 BST to reports of a man, who was known to the householder, using threatening behaviour and refusing to leave.
When they arrived unarmed officers were threatened with a firearm and later heard a single gunshot, police said.
The man was found wounded close to the property with the shotgun nearby.
He was airlifted to hospital.
The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, but have appealed for information.
