Man detained by armed police on A80 near Cumbernauld

A man has been detained by police after armed officers surrounded a taxi on a busy North Lanarkshire road.
The vehicle was stopped on the A80, between Cumbernauld village and the Castlecary Hotel, on Friday morning.
A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said the incident was in connection with an ongoing investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
The spokesman refused to confirm or deny if the detention related to any anti-terror investigation.
