One man died and two other people were seriously hurt in a collision between three motorbikes in Wigan.

Ryan Smith, 18, was riding a yellow Honda which collided with another bike at the junction of Fourmarts Road and Hillridge Road on Sunday morning.

The second bike collided with a third which was parked at the side of the road at about 11:25 BST.

All three riders were thrown from their bikes and taken to hospital but Mr Smith died a short time later.

A 19-year-old woman remains in a critical condition in hospital with multiple injuries and a 17-year-old boy who suffered leg and neck injuries has since been discharged.

Ryan's family paid tribute to him, saying: "Ryan was a cherished and much loved son to Neville and Rose, a beautiful brother to Lee, Janine and Gareth, and a beloved boyfriend to Emma.

"He was also a heroic uncle to Daniel, Bradley, Declan, Matthew and Jessica and was adored by many.

"You are sadly gone, but will not be forgotten as you are always in our hearts. Sleep tight our angel, we love you always."
