Man dies after hit and run in Girvan
Published: 29th Jul 2012 09:33:31
A 48-year-old man has been found dead after a hit and run as he walked home from a night out in Ayrshire.
The body of Ian Brown was found on the B748 Dailly to Girvan Road at 03:05 on Saturday.
Police said he had been making his way home from Girvan Bowling Club.
It is thought he left a local kebab shop about midnight. Officers are keen to trace his movements before the accident.
A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
Sgt Jackie Dunbar, from Strathclyde Police, said: "Mr Brown was walking home to Dailly after a night out with friends at Girvan Bowling Club when it appears he was hit by a vehicle.
"He left a local kebab shop at around midnight to begin his walk home. I'm keen to find out exactly what happened over the next three hours.
"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact police."
