Pedestrian, 41, dies after being hit by taxi in Leigh

A man has died after being hit by a taxi in Greater Manchester.
Police were called to Kirkhall Lane in Leigh at about 00:30 BST after the accident between a Citroen Xsara Picasso and a 41-year-old pedestrian.
A private ambulance that was passing at the time took the victim, who had multiple injuries, to the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan.
He died about an hour later, police said. The taxi driver was unhurt in the crash.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
