A kite-surfer has been rescued by a lifeboat after suffering two broken legs when he hit rocks off Anglesey.

The man, from the north Wales area, had been spotted in "severe difficulty" in the sea at Rhosneigr at 19:00 BST by an off-duty pilot from the nearby RAF base at Valley, said emergency services.

He was winched aboard a rescue helicopter from the base and flown to Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital in Bangor.

Trearddur Bay lifeboat and Rhosneigr coastguards were also involved.
