Cornwall's new enterprise zone dedicated to the aerospace industry will create up to 2,500 jobs, according to the government.

The Aerohub, based at Newquay Airport, was launched by Business Minister Mark Prisk at the Farnborough International Airshow in Hampshire.

He said it would be instrumental in stimulating local growth and jobs.

Companies choosing to develop at the Aerohub will be offered tax breaks and planning regulations will be be eased.

Chris Pomfret, from the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership, said Aerohub offered one of the country's longest runways, easy access and "a nascent aerospace cluster in one of the most desirable places in the UK in which to live".

In June, the Classic Aircraft Trust announced it would be moving from Coventry to Newquay.

Its new visitor attraction - with more than 30 vintage aeroplanes - is expected to create 33 jobs.
