Culmore postmaster threatened by gun gang
Published: 10th Jul 2012 07:31:03
Armed robbers threatened to shoot a man working in a post office during a raid in County Londonderry on Monday.
The robbers escaped with what is believed to have been a substantial amount of money from the post office in Culmore.
Army bomb disposal experts were called in to examine a car which police believe was hijacked and used in the robbery.
SDLP Councillor Angela Dobbins said the gun was pointed at the postmaster.
"They told him they would shoot him if he didn't do what he was told.
"That post office, although it is small, it is a lifeline to our community.
"This attack was not only on the post office or the staff of the shop, it was actually on the whole community."
