Stone Roses' message to dead fan Christopher Brahney's family
Published: 9th Jul 2012 19:32:24
The Stone Roses have sent a message of support to the family of fan Christopher Brahney who was found dead in the Manchester Ship Canal.
Mr Brahney, of Timperley, was last seen by friends at the band's gig in Heaton Park, Manchester, on 29 June.
He was found shortly before 09:35 BST near Media City, Salford Quays, Greater Manchester Police said.
More than 80,000 people joined a Facebook group appealing for help finding him.
A message posted on the band's website said: "We'd like to extend our sincerest condolences to Christopher's family and friends. Our thoughts are with them at this incredibly sad time. Ian, John, Mani and Reni."
Police said it was too early to say whether there were any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old had lost his phone at the concert and became separated from friends.
Police later said they believed his phone could be in Edinburgh.
The search for him was widened nationwide when police said he may have used the park-and-ride facility at Bowlee Park, in Heywood Old Road, towards Middleton, shortly before midnight.
Hundreds of people joined a rally in Manchester's Piccadilly Gardens on Thursday night, organised by his friends and family.
