Man ruled out of Francis Farrell murder inquiry
Published: 4th Jul 2012 13:18:37
A man arrested over the death of a man in Greater Manchester has been ruled out of the inquiry, police have said.
Francis Farrell, 56, was found with head injuries at about 04:15 BST on 17 June in Frog Lane, Wigan. He died in hospital three days later.
Detectives are now treating his death as murder.
A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and released on bail until 19 July, but has now been eliminated from investigations.
Det Insp Aaron Duggan said: "I believe that someone out there knows exactly how Francis came by his injuries that night.
"I would urge them to think about what Francis's family are going through, and to call me with whatever information they have.
"In particular I would like to hear from anyone who saw Francis in Wigan town centre that night.
"I would also like to hear from anyone who was in a vehicle or walking along Frog Lane between 4am and 4.15am, Sunday morning 17 June.
"It is very important that you contact the incident room as you may well have seen something crucial to the investigation and may not realise the importance of what you saw."
