More than 40 firefighters tackled a large blaze at a business college in Manchester city centre overnight.

Crews were called to the five-storey Global Vision building on Charles Street at 23:25 BST on Sunday.

The ground floor was completely destroyed and the rest of the building suffered smoke damage, officers said.

Charles Street and Oxford Road were closed to traffic on Sunday night. Oxford Road has since re-opened, but Charles Street remained closed earlier.

Fire and police officers are carrying out a joint investigation into the cause of the fire.

There were no reports of injuries.
