Man arrested over fatal stabbing in Salford
Published: 27th Jun 2012 11:13:18
A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was stabbed to death in Salford.
Police were called to a house on Cumbrae Gardens, Weaste, at about 18:40 BST on Tuesday to reports a woman had received serious injuries.
Officers discovered a 32-year-old woman with stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man at the scene also suffered serious stab injuries to his arm. He is in a stable condition in hospital.
The arrested man remains in police custody for questioning.
A post-mortem examination will take place later today to establish the cause of the woman's death.
Det Chief Insp Ben Ewart, of Salford CID, said: "We want to reassure everyone that we believe this to be an entirely isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the community.
"We have got extra patrols in the Weaste area and I would urge anyone with concerns to approach any of our officers.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything unusual on Cumbrae Gardens yesterday, or previously, to get in touch with detectives."
