Manchester canal death: Boy, 14, bailed

A 14-year-old boy, arrested on suspicion of murdering a man whose body was found in a canal in Manchester city centre, has been bailed by police.

Simon Brass, 40, who lived in the Salford area, died from drowning, a post-mortem test found.

His body, which had no sign of injury, was found in a stretch of water near Canal Street on 9 June.

A 21-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder has been released with no further action to be taken.

The boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has been bailed until 8 August.
