14-year-old boy critical after Carrickfergus crash

A 14-year-old boy is critically ill in hospital after he was knocked down by a car in County Antrim.

The accident happened at Larne Road, Carrickfergus, close to Downshire Halt train station on Monday morning.

It is understood the boy was crossing the road when he was hit. The area around the accident at Victoria Road remains closed to traffic.

There are no further details at present.
