People in Morecambe are celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with a party along the promenade.

Morecambe Town Council has earmarked a 1.5 mile (2.4km) stretch of the resort's promenade for its Jubilee street party.

People have been asked to book tables for £5, with the money going to Help The Heroes and St John's Hospice.

The centrepoint will be a statue of the comedian Eric Morecambe, with tables stretching out either side.

Up to 3,000 people are expected to attend the event, which starts at 13:00 BST.

Hundreds of events are taking place across Lancashire including live music, street parties and fairs.

Preston's Sikh Community is hosting its Big Jubilee Langer (lunch) in Wilson Park from 12:00 BST to 15:00 BST.

The Langer, which will be officially opened by Preston Guild Mayor Councillor Carl Crompton, will involve singing, dancing and a "free community" kitchen.

And about 400 people are expected to attend a party in Bank Top in Blackburn.

The county's Jubilee celebrations will reach their height on Monday with Jubilee beacons being lit at the Jubilee Tower near Darwen, Pendle Hill, Warton Crag neat Carnforth and St James Church in Haslingden.
