Alexandra Burke to headline free Youth Beatz festival
Published: 31st May 2012 02:55:06
UK chart star Alexandra Burke is to headline a free music festival in southern Scotland.
Youth Beatz - held at the Dock Park in Dumfries - is now in its fourth year and attracted 12,000 fans in 2011.
Since emerging as winner of the X Factor in 2008, Burke has enjoyed a string of number one hit singles.
Previous headline acts at the festival - which calls itself "Scotland's largest free music event" - include the likes of N-Dubz and Chipmunk.
The singer said she had heard "great things" about the "amazing atmosphere" in Dumfries and was looking forward to performing on 15 September.
Organisers have promised that more acts will be announced in the coming weeks.
Youth Beatz 2012 remains free to enter, although tickets will be required and can be obtained via its website.
