Salford hit-and-run crash: Police release details of car

Details of the car involved in a hit-and-run crash in Salford which left four people seriously hurt have been released by police.

The two men and two women were standing on the pavement on Liverpool Road, near the Unicorn Tavern, when they were hit at 01:05 BST on Sunday.

Parts of the car, a dark blue Vauxhall Vectra, were recovered from the scene.

Police believe it would be missing a wing mirror and would have sustained damage to the front.

The car was travelling west along Liverpool Road towards the motorway junction when it collided with the group of people, who were standing on the pavement.

A 62-year-old man was left with a broken pelvis and three others, aged 63, 67 and 70, suffered fractures to their legs and facial injuries.

Sgt Lee Westhead, of Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We recovered parts from the suspect's vehicle at the scene and can confirm that we are looking for a car similar to that pictured.

"The car is a very dark blue in appearance, is likely to have front end damage and to be missing a passenger side door mirror.

"If you have seen a car matching this description, repaired it or supplied parts for such a car, then please contact us."
