Huddersfield Town bus parade to mark Championship promotion
Published: 27th May 2012 11:13:54
Huddersfield Town will celebrate their promotion to the Championship with an open-top bus parade.
After a goaless draw at Wembley, the Terriers claimed victory against Sheffield United when Blades keeper Steve Simonsen missed a penalty.
The bus will take the players from the Galpharm Stadium to the town hall for a civic reception on Monday.
Manager Simon Grayson and chairman Dean Hoyle will then speak from the town hall's balcony at about 17:45 BST.
Kirklees Council said it would release further details of the event and road closures as soon as possible.
Grayson took over Huddersfield in February after being sacked by Leeds.
In a statement on the club's website, he said: "People talk about promotion and I believe the best way to achieve it is by coming to Wembley and winning.
"You can see how ecstatic the supporters and players were, everyone has worked very hard.
"The club deserves to be in the Championship. The chairman has huge ambitions and his enthusiasm was one of the biggest reasons in my decision to join the club.
"I am delighted that we have achieved his aim."
