Barclays and Santander hit by online banking problems
Published: 25th May 2012 13:46:01
Some customers of Barclays and Santander have been unable to access their bank accounts online.
A spokeswoman for Barclays apologised for the inconvenience to customers and said that staff were working to fix the problem as soon as possible.
Santander also apologised but said the issue had now been resolved.
Many people are paid on the final Friday of the month and others transfer cash for the weekend, making it one of the busiest days for transactions.
Barclays, which said the latest problems were intermittent, updated its online banking website at the start of the year.
Customers have been linked to the new service steadily since January.
