Six wards remain closed at a hospital in Renfrewshire where six patients have died while receiving treatment for diarrhoea and vomiting.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said that 18 patients at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley were still showing symptoms of norovirus.

The health board said the deaths were not caused by the bug and the patients had underlying medical conditions.

Strict infection control measures remain in place at the hospital.
