A garden has been planted in tribute to murdered landscape architect Jo Yeates near her family home in Hampshire.

Miss Yeates, 25, was killed by her neighbour Vincent Tabak in December 2010 in her Bristol flat. He was jailed for 20 years.

Friends and family raised funds for the garden at Harold Hillier Arboretum, near Ampfield, where Miss Yeates once worked.

Her mother, Teresa, said it was "unique and different".

Miss Yeates's father David had suggested the theme of a butterfly garden based on work his daughter had done at the gardens during her time there.

He said: "She always enjoyed the outdoors - it was her life.

"It's somewhere we can come and think of Jo."

About 60 people gathered at the arboretum to plant wild flowers near a maple tree which Miss Yeates is known to have planted.

Fellow landscape artist and friend Phil Deacon said: "I think Jo would have loved it. It will definitely attract wildlife and she loved nature."
