Chester FC benefit match for mascot Ciaran Geddes

Chester FC are hosting a benefit match for a seven-year-old boy who collapsed and died while playing with a football at a school in Cheshire.

Ciaran Geddes was playing on his own at Locking Stumps Community Primary School, in Birchwood, Warrington when he collapsed in April.

He was taken to Warrington District General Hospital but died.

Liverpool comedian John Bishop will join former players from the 2004 Conference Championship winning side.

The club is aiming to help raise funds towards the purchase of defibrillator packs for Ciaran's school and also the junior football team he played for.

Ciaran, who was a mascot for Chester FC, was described my his mother Marika Latham as "my premiership player in the making".

An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned at Warrington Coroner's Court.
